This is how you can delete video clips permanently from your Event Library in iMovie. Click the desktop outside of the iMovie window to see 'Finder' menus at the top of your computer screen. The video is removed from your Events, but it still occupies space in the Trash. Click 'Move Rejected to Trash' button located at the top right corner of the Rejected Clips window. You will see the rejected clips in the selected Event. Click 'View Rejected Clips' to review the clips that you have marked for deletion. To check this wasn't just an issue with the preview, i exported at the highest bitrate possible and sure enough, the problem persists in the rendered video. I'm editing together some 1080p60 clips and i notice that in imovie, they seem to be dropping frames constantly.
